Formerly Texas Careers, Kaplan College offers a diploma program in practical nursing to students at its San Antonio campus. Texas Careers joined the network of Kaplan College schools, and is now offering a Kaplan College education. Licensed practical nurses report directly to a physician or registered nurse, and typically provide care for patients whose condition is stable. Licensed practical nurses perform routine patient care tasks, including observing the patient, taking patient measurements and vital signs, communicating with patients and family members, and providing assistance and care. LPNs work in a wide variety of settings, including health clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, schools, outpatient settings, physicians’ offices, and other settings.
The practical nursing diploma at Kaplan College prepares students for entry-level careers as a practical nurse. Kaplan College provides the training that nurses need to develop basic skills, including classroom and practical hands-on training. Graduates of the Kaplan College diploma program in practical nursing must still meet state licensing requirements to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, including passing state licensing examinations.
