MedTech College

The MedTech College School of Nursing offers both Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing to students based in Indiana. Students may complete the 15-month Practical Nursing program, or the Associate of Science – Registered Nurse program. Either of these programs provides a foundation for students to begin a career in nursing; the primary difference is in the role that students play in the nursing field, and in ongoing education opportunities.

The Practical Nursing program at MedTech College engages students immediately with nursing foundations, then guides them through clinical rotations, and finally provides a course preparing students for NCLEX-PN examinations for state licensure. Upon successful completion of the Practical Nursing program and the NCLEX-PN licensure examination, students can engage in employment opportunities in long-term care practices, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, urgent care facilities, occupational care centers, doctor’s offices, or other settings.

The Associate of Science – Registered Nurse program prepares students to become Registered Nurses. Registered Nurses typically supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, and perform more in-depth nursing care than the routine care administered by LPNs. Registered Nurses can assess health outcomes, supervise nurses, delegate, administer, teach, and evaluate. The associate’s degree also provides a foundation for continuing nursing education.

The Associate of Science Registered Nurse gives nursing students a foundation in general and specific health care needs and requirements from birth through older adulthood. Registered Nurses learn specialized skills, such as medical and surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, gerontological nursing, and obstetrical nursing.

Students who wish to enroll in a MedTech College nursing program must attend an information session. At the information session, students learn about the programs and requirements. Upon completing the information session, students may schedule appointments with admissions to discuss the enrollment process. Enrolled students may meet with the financial aid department to discuss financing their educations.
