Medical Careers Institute

Medical Careers Institute offers two educational options for students who are interested in a nursing career: the practical nursing diploma program, or the nursing bachelor degree program. The practical nursing diploma program prepares students for nursing careers in hospitals, public school systems, nursing homes, physicians’ offices and private practices, or corporate occupational health. Once students are licensed in their state and hold an associate’s degree or diploma in nursing, Medical Careers Institute also offers a BSN to help students achieve their career goals.

Students at Medical Careers Institute learn in a variety of settings, including the classroom, laboratory settings, and clinical settings. Students become proficient with beginner-level skills in practical nursing, which enables them to become effective assets in a variety of settings, including long-term care, acute settings, and ambulatory settings. Students of the practical nursing diploma program also enjoy a collaborative learning environment, which enables students to develop and apply systematic reasoning through critical thinking.

Graduates of the practical nursing diploma program at Medical Careers Institute learn the skills and foundation to begin their nursing careers. This includes things like: delivering care to clients and their families; communicating effectively with members of the health care team, clients, and their families; and using critical thinking to utilize and perform effective nursing skills.

Potential nursing students at Medical Careers Institute may be eligible for federal and state financial aid. Students may be eligible for the Federal Stafford Loan, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Pell Grant, Federal Perkins Loan, or other financial assistance programs. Students who are interested in financial aid should complete a FAFSA, and can contact the Medical Careers Institute financial aid office with specific questions. MCI also offers some scholarships for eligible students, as well as participating in various federal initiatives to help students finance their educations.
