Keiser Career College

Keiser Career College offers a diploma program in practical nursing. The practical nursing diploma program requires students to complete 52 credit hours in their major, which can typically be completed in 12 months by full-time students. The practical nursing program involves three sessions of 450 clock hours, for a total of 1350 clock hours throughout the course of the program. Graduates of the Keiser Career College practical nursing program are eligible to have their name submitted to the state licensing board to qualify for the NCLEX-PN licensing examination.

The Keiser Career College practical nursing diploma program prepares students for entry-level positions as Practical Nurses. The program provides students with information and practice in bedside care, such as taking vital signs, observing patients, feeding patients, reporting adverse reactions to medications or treatments, and other important practical nursing care. Practical nurses also learn how to collect samples for testing, perform routine laboratory tests, and record patient data.

A practical nursing diploma prepares students for nursing careers in a variety of settings. Practical nurses can care for the sick, injured, and disabled in long-term care settings, hospitals, home health settings, or outpatient settings. During the program, Keiser Career College students get clinical experience at extended care facilities and hospitals. This practical experience enables students to experience these settings and hone their skills in real-life scenarios.

Potential practical nursing students must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., and pass the Nursing pre-entrance exam. Practical nursing applicants must also submit a written essay, undergo a physical examination and health testing, provide documentation of immunization, undergo background screening, and interview personally with the program director.
