This small city has a population of approximately 16,000, and was named after General Philip Sheridan. Its economy is based on ranching, mining, railroading, and agriculture. In 2006 it was rated the number one western town in the country, and it has become a tourist stop for many travelling down Interstate-90 and U.S. Route 14. Visitors can also see the Trail End State Historic Site, a mansion that was home to John Benjamin Kendrick, a cattle rancher and built in 1913. Sheridan Inn is another historic building from 1893 which has had many famous guests in its long and storied history.
