Originally settled in 1812, Evansville is situated on the beautiful banks of the Ohio River. The city is now home to over 350,000 residents and a Riverboat Casino. Within the city there is the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra at the vintage Victory Theatre, as well as the Evansville Freedom Festival and several museums. There are 65 parks within the city, in addition to three 18-hole golf courses. On 50-acres resides the Mesker Park Zoo, which houses 700 animals. Evansville has recently opened the Evansville African American Museum, which is located in one of America’s first housing projects built in 1938 in Lincoln Gardens.
