How to Become an LPN in Florida

To become an LPN in Florida you will need to:

  1. Attend a Florida practical nursing program.
  2. Apply for a license online at https://ww2.doh.state.fl.us/DOHInitialApp/login.aspx.
  3. Register for and pass the NCLEX-PN exam. You can register online at http://www.pearsonvue.com/nclex. The exam fee is $200.
  4. Receive your license from the Florida Board of Nursing.

You can only take the NCLEX-PN exam up to three times. If you fail it three times, you will need to undergo remedial training approved by the Florida Board of Nursing.

PN licenses in Florida must be renewed every two years. To do so, practical nurses are required to maintain continuing competency in the form of 24 hours of continuing education credits (1 hour for each month in the renewal cycle). You can renew your PN license online.
